Without Optimization, Cloud Migration is Halfway There

Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, HBO, Star+, AppleTV+, Paramount, and more are coming... The introduction of a series or program we want to watch, and the ease of subscribing and unsubscribing, means that we often sign up for a service and after a while forget that the monthly payment is being deducted from our credit card. In many cases, there is only one profile per family, without the personalization that is one of the advantages of these platforms. If we add other subscriptions, such as newspapers, magazines, or applications, we end up paying for something we do not use or need, even if the amounts are small.

As with home streaming services, one of the benefits of cloud solutions is that they are available when you need them, allowing you to take advantage of the technology's potential. For example, companies can use certain services for testing without investing in additional equipment or increasing computing power on special days, such as CyberDay, when availability, speed, automation, and elasticity of workloads are critical.

However, something similar can happen with cloud services without a proper process and optimization plan. We see this every day with different customers. For example, at one company where we did this cost optimization analysis, we generated savings of almost 40% over four months.

Cloud migration is the first step in this analysis. Implementing optimization processes is essential to maximize this technology's potential and cost savings. This provides access to cutting-edge technologies and software development methodologies that automate processes and facilitate faster time to market with changes and new functionality. As a result, companies can innovate faster, deliver superior customer experiences, and respond quickly to market demands.

Have you thought about how many services you pay for that you no longer use? Have you identified services you could use to better meet your needs? I leave you with these questions.
